"Billet" Cycle X 836cc Pistons 77-78 "F" Models (Lightweight and Armor Glide Coated)
Manufactured by Wiseco with Cycle X dome.

Designed for the 77-78 "F" models with the correct dome and valve pockets to match your 77-78 Supersport hot-rod Honda combustion chamber.

We are proud and excited to release these Billet Wiseco pistons with our race proven Cycle X 30 degree domes.

Why Billet?
Without blanks or forgings to achieve the race proven dome configurations, the pistons needed to be billet and built from scratch.
Secondly, Billet pistons can be machined on the undersides to reduce even more weight and run shorter "tool steel" wrist pins.
Conclusion, world class pistons for your five decade old hot-rod Honda.

These pistons have a bare weight of 161 grams and have a Armor Glide skirt coating, tool steel wrist pins, 2559XA ring sets, .00190 piston to cylinder wall clearance, and larger and deeper valve pockets for big valves and big camshafts.

Depending on the year or combustion chamber modifications, the compression ratios are in the 10.30 to 10.9 range. Your camshaft selection will affect or alter this figures.

Note: The compression ratios was determined with the timing edge of the piston flush with the top of the cylinder.

Note: The cylinder heads are stock cc combustion chambers without milling or surfacing and a .040 head gasket.

77-78 "F" model 28cc cylinder head combustion chambers will have approx 10.28 ratio

Why Cycle X sleeves?
Our cylinder sleeve are denser, harder and longer wearing than any sleeve on the market. Most machinists can hear and feel the difference when boring/honing the cylinders.

Note: The compression ratios was determined with the timing edge of the piston flush with the top of the cylinder.

Note: The cylinder heads are stock cc combustion chambers without milling or surfacing and a .040 head gasket.

F2 Drain Hole Modification

As great as Honda is and was...a mistake was made.
4 cylinder studs are exposed through the fins in the head which could allow dirt and road debris to enter the lower end.
Honda tried to correct this problem by putting large O rings at the bottom of the studs to prevent water and debris from entering the motor.
Here is what we do, drain holes are drilled and honed to accept brass tubes. Brass tubes are pressed into place and problem solved.

Thermo Barrier Coating

We are reintroducing or reminding the public about thermo barrier coatings for pistons and combustion chambers. This is the same coating used on our vintage heavyweight super bike (AHRMA) which had remarkable long intervals between tear-downs.

Here's one of my favorite tests from years ago...

The dome coatings in particular were tested on a hot rod v-twin motor (Harley) that started when the owner was super skeptical about the claims of thermo barrier coatings.

Here's what he did...

The front cylinder piston was uncoated. The rear cylinder piston was coated with the above mentioned process. During the running process, the heat sensors showed the rear cylinder 65 degrees cooler. True story. We have noticed the benefits of these coatings many, many years ago and have decided to stock thermo barrier pistons and cylinder heads for the performance minded.

Piston coating: $139.00

Combustion chamber coating: $139.00
